Xander was born down here in Georgia at our Atlanta location. As a young pup he was special with incredible bone. Its been an honor to see him take place in the North American Sieger show, especially now that longcoats are accepted. I'm very proud of both Xander and his owner, Laura (in the last picture with Xander before the show). Congrats! Xander has a great life and a great home. He lives in a dream world, going on trail rides all the time with his owner who is on horseback, and her other shepherds. Thank you to the Mittelwest team for your support of Xander's success and to the handler they brought over, Gina Kastrup! Mittelwest owns Xander's father, VA1 Sieger Titan vom Mittelwest. Like father like son! Also thank you to Laura for giving this boy the best life he could have!

Congratulations!!!

Von Buchmann German Shepherds

Originally from Michigan, I was raised around German Shepherds. I admire their loyalty, bravery and protective nature, gentleness with children,

and always, the ability to be all of this and complete goof balls that make you laugh everyday, so in tune with their owners they are almost human.

I breed only European line German shepherds from both show lines and working lines. My mission is to breed for temperament, working ability, and structural soundness.

I give my puppies the best start I can by raising them in the house, where they are constantly looked after and handled in my home office.

My goal: to produce the perfect German Shepherd Dog. For current German Shepherd puppies, please go to my Litters page below.

I am located in Atlanta Georgia. We ship puppies within the United States. I currently have German Shepherd puppies placed in Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois,

Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and the list just keeps growing. For inquires please contact Rebecca Buchman at:

Dog Trainer In Obedience And Protection

We Offer Boarding Obedience And Protection Training For Those Who Would Like More Control Over Their Dog

I am not a kennel, and this is not my main source of income, it is just a passion of mine. Training dogs is a hobby that I love. I first got into it by helping rehabilitate rescue dogs fresh out of college. My first rescue dog, a female black and tan German Shepherd, was found a mess living in a forest for many months, was a huge challenge as she was very afraid of men, noises, and even me. I became motivated to find any and all ways to build her confidence through positive motivation techniques to make her feel comfortable walking around my apartment complex I lived in at the time. She was so afraid of noises that I couldn't even use a clicker, which I use a lot with puppies I raise. I learned a lot with her and even was able to go all the way to off leash recall, keeping her close in situations she would usually run away in, making her feel confident through the bond I built with her. Then I started schutzhund with my personal dog. I became fascinated with what the dogs were doing and began studying all the different ways things can be taught. I've studied different obedience trainers' ways of training, read books, and applied different methods to train. I've since taken the best methods of my liking and have been applying them to training my older dogs and my puppies. The methods I've loved are the positive motivational techniques. I've found them to really make the dog want to work for you and to really strengthen that bond we all desire as dog owners. I first use these techniques to teach the dog new commands and what is expected of them and use the bond I build with them to build respect, fading out treats. This gets the dog to listen when the treats go away. I couldn't think of a better, more fun way to train. I take these techniques that I have used on the puppies and pass them onto the new owners so that they can build the same bond and respect the puppy had with me.

My main occupation is working as a mainstream comic book artist. Art is also a passion of mine. I consider myself one of the most blessed people in the world to do two things I really have a passion for, training dogs and working for a major comic book company. I am very grateful to both those who have been involved in teaching me dog training, Fabian Walker, and those who have taught me how to do do comic art, Dexter Vines and Studio Revolver. I owe both of them a lot for their great advice. You can see some of my work at www.Buchmansstudios.blogspot.com. I also do commissions of pet portraits for people who would like an original piece of artwork of thier pet. My job as an artist is done out of my home office. As I am working, I am also crate training puppies that are just outside my office where they can see me, and take frequent breaks to do short training sessions with them. Doing this type of work allows me to more easily obedience train, housebreak, and bond with each puppy. It also allows me to get a good inside look at each puppy's personality so that I can better fit you with the dog you've been looking for. I've also worked with obedience training some rescue dogs. It was a joy to see these dogs become well behaved family pets and to get over their seperate issues. Most rescues I've seen are great dogs, but weren't given the proper socialization or guidance that they needed. Every puppy is raised and treated as if it were my own. I only have a few dogs at a time so that I can maximize the time, socialization and training that each gets. I like to give each puppy as much individual training time and attention as I can. They each become a part of my family pack and learn from both me and my dogs. The hardest part of this to me is just how attached I get to each puppy as I watch them learn and grow. I want each puppy to go to the best possible home and have turned down homes in the past who I felt were not going to treat the dog right. I hope I can serve you well as I have others in the past.

Lucky in a focused Heel.

Thank you for visiting my site. Here at Atlanta Working Dogs, we are committed to placing every family with just the right German shepherd puppy. I strive to make every new home that I place my puppies in a huge success. It makes me feel so happy when I get an email from another satisfied customer that found their perfect new family member. I mainly deal with both German Working line shepherds and West German show line shepherds. I find that these lines to have the best family temperaments. When I am asked to train a puppy, I have people select from my litters which puppy they like, then I separate it and start having it bond with people and start the training process. When training, I have my male friends command the dog as well so that whether the new owner is a man or woman, the dog will quickly bond and recognize their voice.

I then will work the first week with each puppy every day, crate training them, and bonding with them, one at a time, and taking them to a few new places to explore. During this time, they will travel in the car in a crate so that they get used to motion and the ones that do throw up in the car, will get over it fast. The puppies will be placed in the car everyday to go somewhere. I use positive reinforcement when placing them in the car so that they learn to love riding. I will also start inviting people over so that the puppies can get used to other people being in the house besides just me.

The second week, I start obedience training on them. I continue to use positive reinforcement everytime I put them in the car. They start to look forward to riding because they know good things are going to happen. I take them various places, including low key parks, around the neighborhood with kids, and the Schutzhund club I work my dogs at, and set them up in a puppy pen so they can see various things, meet new people, hear new noises, and socialize with the world. This builds their confidence in preparing them for their new homes, or the work that they will do. I also now start taking them on off leash hikes, now that their bond with me and my pack is established. On these hikes, they will encounter joggers, bicycles, skateboards, running water, heights, and the sound and feel of a rumbling train going by just feet from them. I also make a point to encounter new children of various ages as I take these walks and put them on leash as we go by playgrounds. The puppies learn to love children so that they will be gentle with them as they grow into large breed dogs. My personal shepherd, my housedog loves it when kids come up and give him a hug. Its very important that each puppy has this early exposure so that they grow up with a "no big deal" attitude towards new things in the future.

The third week into training that I have them, I will begin to start obedience with them in public. By this time, my puppies are very well socialized wtih the world as I take them out everyday. I will take them out for play sessions with my friends' dogs and use them as distractions for obedience. I will use off leash recall to call the puppies back to me, in which they will come running, then release them back to play. Here, I am building a foundation on them, conditioning them to always come when called. This, with practice will stick with them as they go through those stubborn teenage puppy months. Strong recall, to me is the most important thing you can have on your dog. It can save them from running into the street after that squirrel that ran in front of that van. I will also, at this time, start the Wait command at home, where there are no distractions. I also teach the no command.

The Fourth week that I have them, they will be very obedient in public situations. I will up the distractions by going in busy parking lots and working with them on the long down, stay, focus, ect ect. Traffic will not phase them because I worked with them in my socialization program, traffic will be just a simple walk in the park to them. After this week, the puppies will be trained and ready for their new homes. If housetraining was ordered on the dog too, he/she will be housetrained. I will meet with the new owner or family and teach them how to handle the dog. I will give them some guidelines on bonding with the dog and furthering their obedience. I also offer private lessons for those who want to take their puppy further.

When the puppy turns 7 months old, we can test them for personal protection training. We recommend that the puppy be 12 months of age to start the training though. Protection takes about 3 weeks to teach. I will board the dog at my house during this time. We will teach the dog when it is time to step in and take care of business while keeping control over them. We will put control into the dog when it is in its defensive state. The man I work protection with has been training dogs for a long time and has learned from the best of the best overseas. He is highly skilled in what he does. Protection training comes with a demonstration at the end of how to handle the dog. We also will board and protection train a dog that you will already have if you want it trained. i
